Pin-Testing!

Ideas from Pinterest that I have tried and Pin-Tested for you!

Here is the Pin-Test of the day:

June 6- Scratch Be Gone! Olive oil on your couch?

Instructions: This was so very simple! I took a bottle of olive oil and soaked part of a paper towel then rubbed onto where the scratches were in the couch and voila they were gone! The scratches were less noticeable for about 4 days and then the affect kinda wore off, I think this is something you have to continually do in order to keep the same results. I also made sure to wipe the couches off a few hours later with a damp cloth so that my dog didn't go to town on the olive oil ha-ha! I give this a 6/10.

June 3- Monkey Bread & Chocolate Caramel  Pretzels

Yummy!
I made these little delights for thanksgiving last year and they were AM-AH-ZING ( a little word from my fave show Happy Endings).

Instructions:The Pretzels were amazing and very simple. I placed the pretzels on a baking sheet and put a rolo on top of each one. Pop in the oven and keep an eye on them. Once the rolos begin to melt, take them out and push all of the pretzels down squishing the rolos. Once they have cooled down put them into a bowl and chow down! I give these an 8/10!

The Monkey bread was a little more work but simple enough. I used Pillsbury biscuits and placed them into a bundt pan, cover the biscuits in your fave caramel sauce (I used a Betty Crocker recipe) and then bake! Top it off with nuts and serve! I give this an 8/10!

Lessons Learned: The only thing I would change is to serve the monkey bread right out of the oven, I let it cool a little too long and the sauce hardened. Also, you can also top the pretzels off with a pecan but I thought they already had enough crunch.

May 27- Mini Lasagna's

I don't know what it is about my obsession with small things but I seem to gravitate to mini versions of everything. Hell, even my husband is 5'8(on a good day) and my dog is a Chihuahua ha-ha. I made these lil appetizers for my Halloween party last fall and everyone loved them! Maybe I love making mini food because if you eat a TON of them, you don't feel as guilty...hey the justification works for me!

Instructions: I started out by substituting whole wheat noodles instead of white noodles. Then I made up a batch of my fave pasta sauce and mixed it with cooked ground beef and set it aside. Boiled the noodles and then let them cool. I cut all the noodles in half so they fit into the small cups better. I placed the noodles into the lightly oiled muffin cup tray, one little trick I used was to put a noodle in the bottom as well as around the sides which helped the mixture stay in better. Then I filled the cups with sauce mixture and top with cheese(you can also add spinach, cottage cheese or mushrooms if you wish). Bake at 350 until done. I give these an 8/10-they were so easy to make and delish!

Lessons Learned: There isn't much I would change about this recipe. Maybe next time I will add in some spinach or something else for texture/flavor.

May 23- Floor Cleaner

So, here is a not so good Pin...I decided to use this washing recipe to clean my floors before I hosted our entire family for Mother's Day. What a mistake! It looked OK at first but after a few hours my floors looked like I had washed them in chalk. I scrubbed them with hot water and vinegar 3 times and still to this day they look chalky. I would not recommend this floor wash and I give it a 0/10.

Lessons Learned: Do not use this, instead I recommend just good ol' vinegar, hot water and a splash of your favorite smelling cleaner.

May 22-Mini Meatloaf Appetizer's!

I made these last fall for our Halloween party and they were a huge hit! Very simple to make and they look so cute!

Instructions: I mixed ground beef with a can of onion soup, bread crumbs & garlic. Then I shaped into balls & placed in a lightly oiled cupcake tray. Flattened the tops and then spread ketchup on top. I baked them at 350 degrees until done. For the topping I cheated a bit (Our Little Secret) & used potatoes in a box. Once they were cooked I put the potatoes into a zip lock bag once and I cut off the corner (like you do for icing) and I squeezed on top of the meatloaf. Serve with bacon & chives and you're done! I give this recipe a 9/10!

Lessons Learned: The only thing I would have done differently is to use real potatoes instead of the potatoes in a box.
